Echo Knoll Farm is nestled in the river hills along the Susquehanna River in south central PA.
We are dedicated to perpetuate sound equine athletes with suitable temperament and trainability to excel in their sport, thereby improving the breed for generations to come.
We have been racing thoroughbreds since 1968. I competed as a jockey from 1972-1982. Our breeding program analyses both genotype and phenotype from multiple perspectivesand selects those individuals that can optimally combine to produce a solid competitor. Correct conformation and good attitude allow these horses to excel in their sport and become exceptional partners with their riders. Sport ponies became our focus when I entered my 5 th decade and could no longer sit quietly atop a 3 yo 17 h "fire breathing dragon" to explain the basic equitation commands. We have used our lifetime of experience and love of lifelong learning to produce smaller mounts suitable for a child or smaller adult maintaining the gaits and talent to go more safely "up the levels".
Proper mare care and attention to detail throughout the gestation provides the best start for strong healthy foals.
Once safely on the ground, we raise the foal with correct handling, good nutrition, exercise and dicipline, thereby instilling the confidence, strength and stamina required to excel. Our emphasis is classical training.
